About Marsh Carney Saddlery

Marsh Carney Saddlery was established in 1980 by Marsh & Patricia Carney in the small town of Scone, NSW. Having acquired his trade under the watchful eye of John Charleton in Sydney, Marsh moved to the Hunter Valley to ride horses. There he met his wife Patricia, a Veterinarian at the local clinic.

With Marsh working the tools, Patricia (Trish) set about establishing the retail side of the business. Together they worked to design and market a range of Australian Made saddles and strapping that they have refined over the years to the range displayed today.

As the manufacturing and retail business grew it was determined that another outlet would be beneficial to meet growing demands. In 1990 the pair acquired the well-established Hiscocks Saddlery in Tamworth, NSW. Together they operated the two outlets, often with their three children in tow, continually designing, developing, and sourcing unique and quality products for their stores.

Marsh Carney Saddlery grew further in 2004 to include a branch at Dubbo after the acquisition of Riding High Saddlery. In 2005 their eldest daughter Paula moved to Dubbo where she helped her parents manage the brand for many years.

In 2017 their youngest daughter Michelle returned from her overseas riding pursuits to Scone and joined the management team. Michelle’s husband James acquired his trade skills under the watchful eye of Marsh.

Together the family works to source, design, develop, and produce quality equine products for the market. The stores stock a vast range of internationally recognised brands such as Justin, Resistol, Kimes, EzyRide, Bombers, Don Orrell, Hooey, Sabona and more.

The family pride themselves on working alongside their local staff to provide a personalised shopping experience for their loyal customers. It is not uncommon to meet a ‘Carney’ in store while you shop.
